The Bike User Network (BUN) is an informal network of people at the University of Southampton working to promote cycling at the University and in and around Southampton.
BUN is for cyclists who commute and those who ride for sport or leisure. It is also for those who don't ride yet but want to join in the fun! It is for people who think there is too much traffic and pollution, and would like to help change that. It is for people who want to save money on travel, and those who'd like to be fitter. We hope that it helps you become a more active - and proactive - cyclist.
BUN is not a club or a society like those in the Students' Union and relies on you for the information published on this Web site - so please email us your news, articles and comments.
The good news is that cycling is an excellent way to get around Southampton. There are very few big hills, an increasing number of cycle lanes and some really useful routes that bypass the traffic snarl-ups - see Bike Routes for details. There are also many beautiful country rides nearby as well, including off-road tracks through the New Forest.
If you are a member of staff, be sure to check out the Cycle2Work scheme.
If you cycle to the University, take a look at the page about the secure cycle stores
