University of Southampton

Our community and us

The community of the University of Southampton stretches far beyond our students, staff and alumni. Our local residents, community partners, business partners and global collaborators are an important part of who we are, and our ambitions for the future.

Events

We have a huge number of events going on all the time – all of which are open to members of the public.
Check out our events calendar here.

Societies and clubs

A number of student societies welcome people from the local community and are keen for you to get involved. You can browse the full list on the SUSU website. Contact the relevant society officer to find out more about how you can participate.
There are also some local clubs and societies which are held at/run in partnership with the university, such as Southampton University Players (amateur dramatic society), the Phoenix Film Club and the Southampton University Road Cycling Club.

Sports

Our sports centre facilities are open to everyone, and with our public membership you are also able to join a number of sports teams run from the university. Read more about our sports services here.
