Other ways to visit

Our Open Days have finished for this year but you can still visit us in person by booking a campus tour, visiting an academic unit or making an independent visit. Learn more about each of these options below.

If you are a teacher or higher education adviser, the Schools and Colleges Outreach Team can arrange school or college group visits.

Highfield Campus tours

Our campus tours are a great opportunity to find out what it's really like to live and study here. One of our Student Ambassadors will guide you on a general tour of the main Highfield Campus. You'll visit the Hartley Library, the Jubilee Sports Centre and our Students' Union. It's a chance to learn about university life and see our state-of-the-art facilities for yourself.

Please note that these tours will not include a visit to our halls of residence. You will have the opportunity to undertake a self-guided walking tour to Glen Eyre Halls of Residence following your Highfield Campus Tour, however access inside our student accommodation is not possible, as our students live here for the majority of the year.

For a self-guided accommodation tour, please see our information on visiting independently. We also have 360° virtual tours available online so that you can see what our accommodation looks like inside.

Please note these campus tours are not subject specific, and will not include visits to departments or department buildings. If you wish to visit a specific subject building or meet with an academic, please contact them independently, to see if a visit is possible.

Dates for Highfield Campus tours

Our next Highfield Campus tours will take place in March and April 2017. Booking is essential and will be available from the beginning of March.

If you need more information, please do not hesitate to telephone us on +44 (0)23 8059 5900 or email visit@southampton.ac.uk. The hotline is staffed from 08:30-16:30, Monday to Friday.

Please note that we do not accept bookings via email or the hotline.

Avenue Campus tours

Avenue Campus tours are for those interested in Archaeology, History, English, Modern Languages, Film and Philosophy and are set up to complement the main Highfield Campus tours. The tour is up to an hour in length and involves a student-led tour of the campus facilities and a chance to talk to one of the Admissions team. (If you are interested in Music, please contact the Admissions team directly as these tours will not cover Music facilities).

Dates for Avenue campus tours

Our next set of Avenue campus tours will take place in April 2017. Dates and booking information for these campus tours will be available in the new year.

Visit independently

If you are unable to attend any of our events, you are welcome to visit at any time.

A walking tour leaflet of the main Highfield Campus is available from the University's main reception (Building 37, open weekdays). You can also download the leaflet from our useful downloads section below.

We recommend using an alternative route for part of the tour if you are a wheelchair user. Please refer to the accessible route map for assistance.

You can also take a self-guided walking accommodation tour, using the leaflet in the useful downloads below. Please note that these tours are external only, and you will not be able to access any rooms or buildings.
