The School of Biological Sciences

The School of Biological Sciences is located in the Biomedical Sciences Building, known as Boldrewood locally by most people including taxi and bus drivers. There is limited parking available at Boldrewood and the local streets have restricted car parking.

Walking from Highfield Campus

Make your way onto University Road and continue walking north towards the Stile Inn pub on the left of the T junction. Turn left at the traffic lights onto Burgess Road. Continue walking along Burgess Road then take the second right onto Bassett Crescent East. Take the first left turn off Bassett Crescent East into the Biomedical Sciences car park. The entrance to the building is found at the top of the ramp adjacent to the visitors car park.

By car via M3

Leave the M3 at junction 14, following signs for Southampton A33. Go straight over the first roundabout and take the first exit (straight on) at the next one. Turn left at the next set of traffic lights into Burgess Road and take the second left into Bassett Crescent. The entrance to the Biomedical Sciences car park is on the left.

By car via M27

Leave the M27 at Junction 5, which is signed for Southampton/Airport/Eastleigh/A335. Follow the signposts onto the A35/A335 Southampton/Swaythling. Go straight through the first three sets of traffic lights. At the fourth set of traffic lights, opposite McDonalds, turn right onto Burgess Road. Continue along Burgess Road past the Highfield campus on your left with a Shell garage on your right. At the traffic lights by the Shell garage, continue straight ahead then turn right onto Bassett Crescent East. Take the first left off Bassett Crescent East into the Biomedical Sciences car park.

By train

Southampton has two main train stations: Southampton Airport (Parkway) or Southampton Central Station. Both stations are serviced by a direct bus route to Boldrewood provided by the Uni-link bus service. Please refer to the Uni-link website for a timetable.

By bus or coach

When you book your ticket, ask if you can be dropped at the University or Bassett Crossroads (which is adjacent to Boldrewood). Otherwise, as you leave Southampton Coach Station, turn left and walk a short distance with ASDA supermarket on your right. Turn left again - with ASDA behind you. Walk 100 metres and cross the road (Western Esplanade). Turn left, walk to Southampton Central Train Station. From there you can catch a Uni-link bus to Boldrewood.
