The Worldwide Universities Network or WUN is a group of leading research institutions of international standing from around the world which have come together with the aim of promoting a global research culture through collaborative academic activity. Founded in 2000, activity to date includes joint research, joint distributed learning courses and staff and student exchanges. More information can be found at the WUN website.
There are four main strands to WUN's activities:
Research - Joint research activity enables members to develop critical mass and competitive advantage and deliver research programmes of greater scale and scope than could effectively be delivered by individual institutions.
Mobility - WUN offers innovative opportunities for graduate student and staff exchanges and secondments between members and with corporate partners. Gaining experience of working in different research and work cultures, establishing new contacts and enabling access to international programmes are some of the benefits to participants.
Distributed Learning - Sophisticated online delivery and sharing of up-to-the-minute learning material from across the partnership. Combined with agreed standards for quality and course accreditation, is at the core of WUN's activity. Find out more about Distributed Learning.
Virtual Seminars - Cooperation between UK, European and US WUN partners has been underpinned by a number of highly successful videoseminar series. Viewed live and interactive at sites across the partnership, they provide a unique opportunity for staff and students to engage with world class researchers in their fields. For an overview of virtual seminars and full details of upcoming events please go to the WUN website.
