Main responsibilities

Tessa provided leadership to seven professional services – Communications & Marketing, Strategy, Planning & Governance, the International Office, the Library, Office of Development & Alumni Relations, Student & Academic Administration and Student Services.

She worked alongside Chief Operating Officer Malcolm Ace to ensure that our professional services play a key role in enabling the University to realise its ambitious educational, research and enterprise strategic aims.

Research, achievements and external responsibilities

In her previous role as Academic Registrar and Clerk to Governors at the University of West England (UWE)‚ Tessa led a number of cross–institutional projects including a substantial change programme to deliver a new‚ integrated Academic Registry. She is the Vice-Chair of the Association of University Administrators‚ a member of the Association of Heads of University Administration, and a member of the Board of the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education.

Tessa holds a BA (Hons) in Sociology and English from Lancaster University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Women’s Studies from Anglia Polytechnic University. Tessa began her career in Higher Education in 1989 working in departmental and faculty offices at Anglia Polytechnic University. In 1993 she joined Lancaster University as Head of the Undergraduate Registry and from 2000 was Head of the Teaching Quality Support Office before joining UWE.
