Letting Agencies

As with any other city Southampton has many estate and letting agencies that can help you to find private accommodation. We have a list of local agencies to get you started, but there are many more around. For example, London Road in the city centre (view location on Google) is home to many letting agencies and you can pick up many housing lists in a very short time by walking from one end to the other!

Another way to find properties advertised through letting agencies is to look online, as most agencies have their own website with details of the properties they currently have advertised. There are also websites that collect together adverts from a number of different agencies. These websites, such as www.rightmove.co.uk and www.primelocation.com, allow you to search for properties based on a number of criteria (such as price, location or size) and can be a great way of seeing what properties are around.

Fees

Unlike many of the landlords on the SASSH list, most letting agencies will charge an administration fee if you take a property through them. This can also be called a referencing or credit checking fee. The size of the fee will vary from agency to agency, but on average will be between £100 and £200 per person.
