Finding other students to live with

Although many landlords will rent out rooms in their properties individually, most students in Southampton rent a house as part of a group of friends. For current students it may be quite easy to decide who you would like to live with, but for new students who may not know anybody coming to the University, it can be more difficult.

In addition, sometimes after a contract has been signed one or more of a group may not be able to take up their place in the accommodation, leaving rooms spare in the house. The remaining tenants will usually want to find a replacement as soon as possible to make sure they are not paying any extra rent.

The SASSH website - www.sassh.co.uk - has several message boards that can help you find other students to live with.

  1. Student accommodation available - For students with empty rooms in the property they live in.
  2. Student accommodation wanted - For students in need of a room
  3. Find a flat mate - For students looking for other students to form a group with
  4. Short term accommodation - For students looking for a room for a short period of time.

Please remember that these boards are for use by students of both the University of Southampton and Southampton Solent University. We recommend that you include in your message a note of which University you attend.
