I joined the Centre for Research on Ageing in September 2010 as a lecturer after working at the Medical Research Council, Southampton. Prior to that, I was working as a research fellow at the University of Southampton on the health and morbidity of friendly society members in the late 19th and 20th centuries. I obtained my PhD in economics at Tuebingen University, Germany after obtaining an MA Anthropology at Hyderabad Central University and an MPS Demography at the International Institute for Population Sciences, Mumbai).

Research Interests

Aravinda Guntupalli’s research interests are motivated by welfare issues and health. Her recent work is concerned with gender differentials in wellbeing, nutritional transition and reproductive health.
