MPhil PhD Research Programmes in Gerontology

We welcome applications for PhD in gerontology from students or professionals with a relevant masters or other appropriate experience.

A training programme will be drawn up by the student and their supervisor(s) in consultation with the supervisory team and Social Sciences' postgraduate research coordinator. Students who have not taken an ESRC-recognised research training masters programme will be required to take relevant units from the Centre's MSc programme. Students who hold an ESRC-recognised masters are expected to continue their training through attending required activities.

The Centre runs a regular postgraduate research forum, which is devoted entirely to discussing substantive and methodological topics and problems which research students face. Research students are expected to attend the annual postgraduate research days and the postgraduate research conference. The Centre and Social Sciences organise regular seminars which provide an opportunity for students to hear speakers present papers based on their current research.
