We aim to recruit and retain the best and brightest students, whatever their background. The Student Support Fund helps to provide financial support to students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in a variety of subject areas.
Donors to our Student Support Fund are allowing us to ensure that financial circumstances never prevent talented students from fulfilling their potential at the University.
The Student Support Fund is a flexible fund which allows us to respond to the needs of our students as they arise. This could mean providing emergency hardship support to a student who finds themselves in financial difficulty due unforeseen circumstance, or providing a scholarships to one of our postgraduate research students to enable them to progress our cutting-edge research.
What our students say
Some recipients of our postgraduate research scholarship students tell us what receiving your support means to them:
The Student Support Fund enables the most talented students to gain a Southampton education
“Simply put, the scholarship has made a world of difference to my education, because without it, it would have proved extremely difficult, if not impossible, for me to undertake the MPhil/PhD programme at the University of Southampton, which was my optimum choice of institution because of its reputation for research excellence.”
Kathryn Wicks, PhD gerontology student
“There is no question that my scholarship has made a difference to my education, as I would not have been able to attend Southampton otherwise. At this point, I would like to take the opportunity to express my sincerest gratitude for the donors, alumni, and benefactors of the University who have made my doctoral work at Southampton possible.”
Ryan Harvey, PhD humanities student
“It has created an impetus in me to even work harder in my academic work in order to maintain the scholarship. Moreover, it has turned me into a hopeful student with the belief that I can make an impact on my country’s education system.”
Hamis Mugendawala, PhD Student in Education
