Çatalhöyük Visualisations
Dr Graeme Earl and other staff and students in the Archaeological Computing Research Group are part of a wider project directed by Professor Stephanie Moser in Archaeology exploring ways of visualising and representing the site of Çatalhöyük in Turkey. Using Europe's fastest Windows computer experts from various disciplines across the University and in other institutions are working together to create digital simulations of the site that are as close to physical accuracy as possible. As the project progresses more and more data gathered on site in Turkey and from previous work will be incorporated, enabling a representation of the site to be built up that is designed to stimulate new archaeological interpretations and enhance the public representation of the site to communities in Turkey and across the world.
Further details of the Çatalhöyük project, directed by Professor Ian Hodder at Stanford University, are available on the Çatalhöyük website.
