GIS Research
Past and present members of the Archaeological Computing Research Group have an international reputation for the development and application of Geographic Information Systems approaches to archaeological data. In the past this has included an emphasis on different forms and indices of visibility and also attempts at predicting past behaviour through models and simulations. Currently our work is concentrated on synergies between GIS and computer aided design technol
ogies, and upon high performance computing aproaches to archaeological landscapes.
Work in this research area feeds directly into our research-lead undergraduate and masters teaching, and in particular to the MSc in Archaeological Computing: Spatial Technologies
