Remodelling

The next step will be to remodel the scanned statue in order to digitally rebuild the damaged area. This is an extremely complex process and will involve input from a range of specialists in Roman sculpture.

We have begun the process of researching and scanning correlating statue examples to provide further data for the remodelling process.

As a first step we have been provided with access to the Museum of Classical Archaeology at the Faculty of Classics, Cambridge. This cast collection provides access to replicas of the amazon types, including a life size model of the Berlin Sciarra amazon. We have made initial scans of the casts in order to begin hypothetical reconstruction, in advance of scanning original examples.
