MS 227/1 Two volumes of Spanish periodicals and pamphlets:

the volumes contain manuscript annotations, for the period, 1807-9. Volume 1, also called volume 17, includes numbers 16-34 of Correo Politico y Literario de Sevilla, Apr-Jun 1809, Correo Extraordinario Politico y Literario de Sevilla, Apr 1809, El Desangano, 1807, and eight issues of Diario de Malaga, 5-15 Apr 1809. Volume 2, also called volume 19, includes numbers 46-57 of Gazeta de Valencia, 28 Oct-6 Dec 1808, Gazeta de Gobierno, Apr-Jun 1809, Requesta de los Espanoles Americanos a la proclama que les han dirigido los nobles Sevillanos and Extracto de la Gazeta de Gibraltar, 11 Jun-19 Nov 1808

MS 227/2 Letter from Vice Admiral Cuthbert Collingwood, first Baron Collingwood, Commander in Chief of the Mediterranean fleet, to Captain General Don Tomas de Morla, Governor of Cadiz.

The letter relates to transport for French troops captured at the battle of Baylen, the safeguards for the 20,000 pounds raised for provisions and the restrictions on vessels withdrawing from Spanish ports, 28 Jul 1808; enclosed are a translation of the letter and a letter, in Spanish, to Don Tomas de Morla concerning the Collingwood letter, 29 Jul 1808

MS 227/3 Copy of a letter, in Spanish, from the Marques del Campo (Spanish ambassador in London) to the Conde de Floridablanca:

the letter details British plans for attacking the Spanish colonies in the Americas and suggesting precautions to be taken, including the communication of the document to all Spanish viceroys in America, 4 June 1788. Enclosed is a memorandum in three parts: `Relacion de una expedicion al mar del sur projectada por varios particulares en la ultima guerra'; `Carta del Capn. Roberts sobre una expedition al mar del sur'; and `Projecto de una expedicion a la costa de Yucatan y a la de Honduras'; copied, along with the letter, c.1802 [watermark], and marked with the sign manual of Pedro Cevallos, the Spanish First Secretary of State.
