The 2014 Excellence in Teaching Awards (ETA’s) nominees have been announced and we are very proud to say that again we have a high number of staff listed from the Centre for Biological Sciences.

The ETA’s are an annual event hosted by the Students Union at University of Southampton. The ETA’s give our students the opportunity to recognise the support of the staff that teach them and show how that teaching has had a real impact on their academic experience.

The categories for the awards are as follows:

Mark Chapman | Innovative Teaching

Keeping students engaged throughout lectures.

Matthew Bellamy | Best Feedback

Dr Bellamy gives amazing lectures and is very helpful in making sure we fully understand something when we have questions.

Nash Matinyarare | Outstanding Lecturer

Absolutely brilliant demonstrator, knows exactly what he is doing, and he really challenges the student, he does not just tell them the answer.

Carol Marchment | Contribution to Academic Support

Caring and kindhearted; Carol has helped me through some of my hardest times and deserved to be acknowledged for her continued commitment to academic support.

Professor Keith Jones, head of the Centre for Biological Sciences, commented "To have so many of our staff nominated is a wonderful achievement for Biological Sciences.
