About the department

Part of Southampton Business School, our departmental interests encompass the fields of human resource management (HRM) and organisational behaviour (OB). This includes research within the related fields of:

  • industrial or employment relations
  • employment studies
  • organisation studies
  • labour economics
  • work sociology

We aim to develop future leaders in management who can engage with people from diverse national and international backgrounds. We lead the CIPD-accredited MSc Human Resource Management degree. We provide research-informed teaching on other undergraduate and specialist master’s courses. Our team also teach on the Business School’s Help to Grow executive course.

We’re influential within the HR sector and contribute to leading academic journals. Our academic experts are regularly recognised for their research.
