Southampton is a friendly, campus-based university and has a great reputation for not only its academic courses but also its extra curricular programmes and opportunities they provide.

I feel like my course relates well to the real world and the lecturers are well-experienced teachers.

Freshers’ week was well organised and a great laugh. It was surprisingly easy to meet people and I felt like I settled in straight away. Regarding the course, although the maths element is challenging I'm enjoying the course content and it is structured in a way that gives us freedom and time to learn.

I enjoy the way the course is structured to make us think. The lecturers challenge our viewpoints and encourage us to look broadly at our subjects rather than just listing what we need to know for an exam. I feel like my course relates well to the real world and the lecturers are well-experienced teachers.

The University of Southampton provides a friendly, relaxed environment and there are plenty of places on and off campus to study. Southampton is very much a student city, and the city accommodates for students in every way.

My advice to someone starting their degree at Southampton is to go with the flow and accept everything that comes your way. I think university is a place where you gain a lot of life experience as well as improving academic skills. I'd encourage students to reflect and think about things. The more you put in the more you'll get out.
