There are many ways to get involved with the University following graduation. Engaging with our students can be fun and rewarding and it's a great way to support the current generation of students.
We are always looking for alumni to work in partnership with us to help support our current students. We value the expert advice and inspirational messages you can give to our students who can learn so much from your experiences. Hopefully you will find engaging with our students to be a fun and rewarding experience. Below we've identified some areas you may wish to consider however please feel free to contact us should you have further ideas you'd like to explore.
Could you inspire others? Wish to pass on your career knowledge and experience to a student who is interested in working in a career sector in which you have experience? Can you offer a few hours to connect with a current student and act as a career mentor helping them to identify their skills and prepare to transition from education to employment? We are always interested to hear from alumni keen to support the development of our students and in return you too can learn and develop mentoring skills which may help to progress your own continuing professional development.

Can you or your organisation offer a short term internship or project for a current student? We can help support the costs and offer a streamlined application process. Many of our students want to gain real world work experience in a variety of employment sectors and these highly motivated students can benefit your organisation and make great impact within your business.

Can you talk open and honestly about life after graduation? We're always looking for alumni that are willing to share their story and talk to our students.
“The Alumni Career Panels are an excellent way for our current students to engage with former students and learn more about the world of work and life after studying at Southampton. It is a great opportunity to hear about real-world experiences and pick up practical tips as our students make that transition. I’m delighted to see that so many of our alumni are willing to be involved in helping the current generation of students.”
Professor Don Nutbeam, Former Vice-Chancellor, University of Southampton
