Cover letters
When sending a CV, it should always be accompanied by a covering letter.
What to include
The covering letter must capture interest and attention:
- expand on the points made on your CV
- introduce your application form
- summarise why you are suitable for the job
The letter should be:
- no more than one side of A4
- preferably addressed to a named person
- typed or written on good quality paper
- well laid out and easy to follow
A letter gives you the opportunity to show enthusiasm for the opportunity and explain any “problem” areas on your CV/application form e.g. poor grades.
