Girl Laughing Career Destinations Event

The 2010 spring and summer events calendar consisted of over 120 events and was attended by over 3,400 students.

We are currently currently taking requests from employers who would like to be involved in our Spring 2012 events, which start in January.

Please email employ@soton.ac.uk if you are interested in being involved.

Aim of Career Destinations Events

Events are open to all students regardless of year or subject of study.

We will not pre-select students and we ask employers to ensure that any sessions they run are generic in nature as the skills these events are promoting, are general employability skills which are required in a wide range of careers.

Format of events

Starting point talks are generally held between 12pm and 2pm and take place on campus within our lecture theatres.  They are 40 minutes long and student attendance is up to 60.

Skills workshops are interactive sessions generally held between 12pm and 2pm and last for around 90 minutes. The maximum attendance numbers are 20-25 students.
