Entrepreneur Package
This package focuses on business, social enterprise and creativity and initiative through various projects and activities. Suggested attributes you will hone with this package include commercial awareness, leadership skills, creativity and ingenuity, all of which are increasingly desirable with employers and organisations. It can range from getting involved in media projects to setting up a small business, addressing entrepreneurial skills in its widest sense. An increasing area of interest in entrepreneurship is about business awareness.
“You don't have to have a business idea to be an entrepreneur. Entrepreneurial thinking is valuable in any context and the programmes we offer are unique as they often involve competitions or are projects with real outcomes. They also involve tackling social and environmental issues both locally and internationally through creating sustainable enterprise projects. Getting involved in an entrepreneurial project at university will not only add to your employability, it will also enhance your skills as a leader, which is invaluable to you for the rest of your life.' And with the new graduate passport programme, you will also get recognition for your work, giving you the competitive edge when you graduate.”

Student Enterprise Officer, Research and Innovation Services
"When I joined Southampton as a Mechanical Engineering Fresher, I wouldn’t have described myself as an entrepreneur. Fast forward three years and Richard Branson’s right hand man just bought me a beer; I ran a conference for over a hundred people; I’m the director of a limited company and I’ve got an internship with a Dragons Den Dragon this summer. I’m now President of Fish on Toast – the University of Southampton Entrepreneurs and anyone who wants to do something amazing whilst at Uni next year should be joining Fish on Toast. It is going to be awesome: We’re getting incredible speakers, running business idea competitions with cash prizes, not to mention the local and national social events. I’m going into my fourth year now and although it’s going to be intense, I’m still massively excited as ever.’ ![]()
