We help students develop entrepreneurial skills as well as learn about self-employment.
Many employers list entrepreneurial skills like innovation, resilience and creativity on job specifications. Getting involved in Student Enterprise is a great way of developing these qualities as well as your team-working abilities, communication skills and your confidence at thriving in unfamiliar environments with unfamiliar people.
The best way to discover Enterprise is to join in! We run a series of workshops that take you through Enterprise opportunities and can be viewed on the Events Calendar.
By joining this group you will receive email updates about current opportunities and be part of an Enterprise community. Join the Student Enterprise Group here using your University log in and password.
You can then select 'Apply to Group' (on the right hand side). Once your application has been approved you will receive an email with a link to the group.
Do you have a business idea?
When you're developing an idea into a possible business it pays to have a framework of questions to help you explore that idea. We offer the The University of Southampton Business Idea Development Tool developed by Wazoku and funded for the University by SETsquared and Find Invest Grow. The resource is free to use and totally secure.
You can use it to:
- Start sketching out the key principles and concepts of your business idea
- Use the framework questions within the tool to test out your assumptions and help you identify the things you need to work on
- Invite other people to leave feedback on your ideas in a safe and secure manner
- The Frameworks within the tool are based on the bestselling "The New Business Road-test" by Professor John Mullins of London Business School.
