PSA Specialist Group on Citizenship and Democracy
The aim of the group is to provide a forum for discussion and debate on key contemporary issues relating to practices and theories of citizenship and democracy. The group runs both regular and one-off events, as well as acting as a source of information for those interested in the core themes of citizenship and democracy.
Core activities include maintaining an email service for members, providing a site for citizenship-related resources including recent publications, relevant websites, and teaching materials (in due course), organising panels on citizenship and democracy at major conferences such as the PSA Annual Conference, and organising workshops and seminars on themes relating to citizenship and democracy.
The group has three co-convenors: Chris Armstrong (University of Southampton), Sherilyn MacGregor (Keele University), and Judith Squires (University of Bristol).
The Treasurer is Andrew Mason (Southampton), and the Secretary is Robert Frith (Southampton).
The Specialist Group also has an Advisory Board, comprising Andy Dobson (Keele University), Graham Smith (Southampton), and Keith Breen (Queen’s University Belfast).
