My group is interested in utilising stem cells as potential cell sources for ocular transplantation. Our work includes isolating stem cells from ocular tissue as well as other sources such as IPS cells. We then promote transdifferentiation towards retinal phenotypes including photoreceptor and retinal pigment epithelial cells. Eventually we hope to translate this work to novel therapies for conditions such as age related macular degeneration or retinal degenerations.
