Embryonic stem cells

Research in Franchesca's group is focussed on understanding fundamental mechanisms which regulate a range of human stem cell populations including embryonic, kidney and cardiac progenitor cells. A particular area of interest is in the hypoxic regulation of stem cell maintenance. In addition, Franchesca's lab is also investigating the metabolism and cell signalling of the mammalian preimplantation embryo.
