The University of Southampton
Chemistry

Outreach

We offer an extensive programme reaching out to all levels and ages of science learning. By setting out the power and potential of science to young people, we aim to spark a passion for discovery and inspire a lifelong interest in chemistry.

The University of Southampton recognises the importance of engaging young people in chemistry and the physical sciences. Chemistry's schools outreach programme allows us to develop strong links with schools and colleges to support this aim. Many members of staff give up their own time to take part in our activities, and they share in the rewards of seeing young people becoming enthused about chemistry.

Our activities

Our extensive range of programmes allows us to offer opportunities to all age groups from schools, clubs and societies.

Key stage 2

We offer programmes of science with visits to Chemistry and visits to your school.

Key stage 3/4

We run several programmes aimed at pupils in years 8 and 9 and also provide lectures in other topics of interest to all Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils.

Key stage 5

We host visit days and offer the chance to shadow a research chemist to get a valuable insight into the day-to-day activities in a working research environment.
