MSc Programmes
The School of Chemistry offers a course leading to the award of an MSc:
This is a 1 year courses beginning on October 1st each year and is intended for participants with high quality first degrees in Chemistry or a closely related subject.
Entry Requirements
The normal entry requirement is at least an upper second class honours degree in Chemistry, or a closely related subject* . Non-UK applicants will usually have completed 4 years or more in higher education. Students who are of lower second honours degree standard will only be admitted in exceptional circumstances.
*The degree must have had a minimum Chemistry content of 50%. Closely related subjects are: biochemistry, physics, polymer science, environmental sciences, material science, mathematics. Applicants must elect one of the 4 research sections (Chemical Biology, Electrochemistry & Surface Science, Structure & Materials, Synthesis) within which they wish to further their interest.
Language Requirement: It is essential that students have a satisfactory standard of both spoken and written English as indicated by the language entry requirements below:
MSc by Research: TOEFL 600 (IELTS 6.5). We are happy to offer guidance as to courses to improve the standard of English before the commencement of the programme.
