Be prepared for whatever will happen on results day (Thursday 18 August for A-level, GCE and Advanced Diploma students) by knowing what you will need to do if your results differ from what you expected.
On the day you will either have your place confirmed by your firm or insurance university or you will go in to Clearing or Adjustment. Find out more about each of these scenarios below:
Congratulations! If you applied to us you don’t need to do anything other than celebrate - we’ll email you to confirm your place and with information on preparing for your arrival. UCAS Track will be updated to show that your place with us has been confirmed.
If you hold an offer with Southampton (whether we are your firm or insurance choice) and wish to discuss your results with us, you will be able to call our confirmation hotline on 023 8059 7004. The hotline will be open from 8am-6pm on Thursday 18 and Friday 19 August.
Congratulations on achieving excellent exam results.
If you have your place confirmed with us and you got higher than expected results then you may now be eligible for our scholarships, which are awarded to the highest-achieving students and are worth a minimum of £1,000. Find out more about scholarships.
If your grades exceed those which your firm choice asked you to achieve you may be eligible for Adjustment. If you would like to discuss Adjustment opportunities at Southampton you will be able to call our hotline on 023 8059 8989. The hotline will be open from 8am-6pm on Thursday 18 and Friday 19 August. Alternatively, you will be able to complete our online form which will be available from 8am on Thursday 18 August.
If you only just missed the conditions of your offer we may have been able to confirm your place anyway. Look out for an email from us confirming this or log into UCAS Track. However, in a small number of cases our admissions tutors may still be reviewing your results - again we'll let you know if this is the case and we will make a decision as quickly as we can.
If we are unable to consider your application any further we will notify you that this is the case and UCAS Track will also be updated to reflect this decision.
If you find that your firm and insurance choices do not confirm your place once your results are known and you are interested in applying to the University of Southampton through Clearing, you will be able to call our hotline on 023 8059 8989. The hotline will be open from 8am-6pm on Thursday 18 and Friday 19 August. Alternatively, you will be able to complete our online form which will be available from 8am on Thursday 18 August.
A full listing of our courses with vacancies will be available here on the morning of Thursday 18 August.
If you are accepted to Southampton through Clearing then you will receive an invitation to our Clearing and Adjustment Open Day on Saturday 20 August.
