Aims and Objectives
A workshop designed to develop a basic competence and confidence in applying for jobs (covering letter and CV) and performing well in an interview.
Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:
- How to analyse job advertisements and anticipate what a particular employer wants to see in a successful applicant.
- How to write a covering letter that "sells" your CV.
- How to design a CV that will survive the 60 second rejection process and demonstrate that you satisfy the requirements.
- Prepare for and perform well in an interview.
Various topics will be covered including: • Considering your interests, your skills and available opportunities when searching for jobs • Analysing job advertisements ? what has been said and what has been left unsaid? • The four things that must be in a covering letter if it is to sell your CV • Preparing a CV ? your two page case for why they should hire you. What to put in and what to leave out. • Interviews ? preparation and techniques for improving how you come across
