Module Aims

This course provides an introduction to the study of the individual and the organisation. It aims to provide students with a basic knowledge and understanding of some of the psychological concepts, theories and approaches that are relevant to the individual’s role in organisations today.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge and Understanding

Having successfully completed this module, you will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of:

  • The origin and development of organisational behaviour and its methods.
  • The role that the individual plays in organisational processes.
  • The different theoretical perspectives relating to work psychology.
  • Research methods and how research contributes to theory.
Transferable and Generic Skills

Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:

  • Learn how to manage and value diversity in others.
  • Argue and debate.
  • Communicate better.
Subject Specific Intellectual and Research Skills

Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:

  • Critically evaluate appropriate literature relating to work psychology.
  • Apply theory to the practice of how people fit into jobs and how jobs fit people.
  • Synthesise information and write and debate analytically on the subject.
