Research interests

I conduct research on family formation and family change in cross-national comparison, with a particular focus on the Nordic countries, Europe, and the United States. My recent work has investigated the meaning of marriage, the relative timing of marriage and home purchases, stepfamily fertility, and the union formation patterns of immigrants and their descendants.

In my research I employ advanced techniques for the analysis and modelling of medium- and large-scale quantitative data, in particular longitudinal data and large-scale administrative (population register) data.
