International Women's Week 2015

Every year in March we draw together a range of events to mark International Women's Week, mixing the informative, the reflective, the challenging and the celebratory.

The programme for 2015 already highlights an exceptional range of activities on offer, devised by students and staff alike through various groups and networks. And it's still evolving as individual organisers complete arrangements. You can find talks, seminars, sports activities, serious business and plenty of fun stuff.

Highlights to date include:

Globally, International Women's Day itself is usually celebrated on 8 March. The majority of the University's events are due to take place in the week of 9-13 March, with others following a few days later.

Most activities centre on women's lives and careers, including skills, techniques, achievements and role models. And all are definitely open to everyone.

If you are organising a relevant activity and would like it included on this schedule, please contact Linnet Evans.

Southampton Women's Aid

For 2015, many of our events will again be actively supporting Southampton Women's Aid. You may also see collection buckets around the campus.

Since last year's Week, SWA have offered practical, holistic, non-judgmental support to hundreds of women from all backgrounds.

There are also specialist Children and Youth workers.

The Survivor's Handbook provides advice on keeping safe, legal rights and much more. It's available in English and other community languages, and both text and audio formats.

Please help to support this valuable local and national service.
