Springboard 2016 programme announced

Springboard Women's Development Pgm

Following successful programmes in previous years, Alison Trinder returns to facilitate the Springboard Women's Development Programme for academic women across the University. The programme will run from January through April 2016 and applications are open now.

Springboard offers you the opportunity to undertake a substantial review of your work and personal lives, and to take more control. It is a development programme written by women for women; it aims to support you in assessing where you are now, in identifying the clear, practical and realistic steps that you want to take next, and in developing the skills and confidence to underpin them.

The programme is about you, your life and your work – you are always in charge of what you decide to do, but it will help you to make good decisions based on what is right for you in your individual context, while building on your experience to date. The results you experience will depend on the objectives you set for yourself; many women have used the programme to support them in working for promotion, gaining new skills and qualifications, building confidence and new approaches.

You can expect to:

  • Work on your self-awareness and identify the skills and experience you have developed to date
  • Work on both your work and personal life
  • Identify your personal values
  • Develop assertiveness skills, and skills to portray yourself positively
  • Identify personal and work goals and the steps you need to take towards them

Places are limited so if you would like to attend, do make sure you register early by visiting https://www.isurvey.soton.ac.uk/13479. Please note that the programme is self-nominating.

When registering, please provide your employee ID, preferred contact details and include some brief details about your reasons for wishing to do the course. You will also need an Agresso subproject code from your faculty to cover the expense of the workbook (£35 inc. VAT).

The programme consists of four workshops each a month apart, and a workbook. If you take part in the programme you will be expected to attend all four workshops on 18th January, 23rd February, 17th March and 15th April and work with the Springboard workbook (which will be provided at the first session) between workshops.

Springboard has been running successfully in many organisations nationally and internationally for over 20 years – including many Universities. This programme will be delivered by Alison Trinder, who has been delivering Springboard for staff at Oxford University since 2006.
