Event details

You are invited to a session on ‘power of attorney’.

Deborah Clarke CEO of the charity Allied Services Trust will be speaking on the critical importance of Lasting Powers of Attorney and the consequences of not having these vital documents in place against a backdrop of capacity issues such as dementia, acquired brain injury and mental ill health.

Lasting Powers of Attorney are legally binding documents that allow people to appoint others to help them in times of need and vulnerability. Not preparing for times of vulnerability can lead to extensive expense, intervention from the courts and loss of choice and control on how your property, financial, health and welfare matters are dealt with. Providing unbiased education Deborah will be offering information on how you can prepare yourself.

The talk will explain the sections within the Lasting Power of Attorney document and the process required to support a successful registration of a Lasting Power of Attorney yourself without resorting to a costly law firm.

This session is hosted by Lisa Then, Chair of the Parents and Carers Network.
