Event details

Aline Giordano, Doctoral College Manager, will share with doctoral researchers her approach to mindfulness.

The benefits of mindfulness practice are now well evidenced and it’s no surprise that the likes of Google and Adobe have introduced mindfulness programmes in the workplace. In some schools, children practice mindfulness instead of getting detention.

Mindfulness is claimed to have a positive impact on wellbeing: it can boost morale, increase our tolerance to stress and do wonderful things for emotional health. During this session Aline will take you to different parts of the world from New York City to the Kingdom of Bhutan via Oxford. She will call upon the United Nations, the University of Massachusetts, Native Americans, the University of Oxford and the Gross National Happiness (GNH) Centre to showcase a very personal introductory picture of mindfulness.

This session is running as part of the Festival of Doctoral Research and is open to University of Southampton doctoral researchers only.
