Multimillion-pound research award gets go-ahead to tackle poverty alleviation

Published: 13 December 2011

As part of a poverty alleviation research programme, Social Sciences' Dr Jackline Wahba has been given the go-ahead for her research into temporary migration and economic development.

This research; Temporary Migration and Economic Development: the Triple-Win Policy Vision applied to North Africa, will explore the basis of the so-called triple-win policy vision of temporary migration from North Africa where both the country of origin, the host country and the refugees themselves are thought to benefit.

Dr Wahba is joined by Dr Christian Schluter to work with international colleagues from Egypt and Morocco.

Dr Wahba's research is part of a range of 17 new research projects aiming at reducing poverty with £7 million being awarded jointly from the Department for International Development (DFID) and the Economics & Social Research Council (ESRC).
