The impact of 'impact' on the REF

In his opinion piece published today by The Conversation Professor Anthony Kelly, Head of Southampton Education School commented on the impact of the inclusion in the Research Excellence Framework (REF) of the ‘impact’ of academic research on the wider world.

A former member of REF 2014 sub panel for Education, Prof Kelly reflects on the influence ‘impact’ had on the results published today and the speculations about a possible significant increase of the impact component in the 2020 assessment.
