Cross-curricular EAL day 11th June

On 11th June we welcomed 80 pupils from three local schools to the university campus. Secondary PGCE trainees planned the activities for the day in mixed subject groups using the following themes: World Oceans day, World Puppet day, Star Wars Episode 7 and Pluto mission. Pupils were a mixture of those with first language English and those with English as an Additional Language. For trainees, the day benefitted them both in terms of working in cross-curricular groups but also in developing strategies and skills in working with pupils with limited English.
