One day workshop for science and computing teachers. Each teacher attending will take away a Raspberry pi and flash memory card back to school
Not yet an ‘off the shelf’ instrument for class teaching but the Raspberry Pi has lots of potential for science and computing teachers. This workshop will guide you through the practicalities of setting up the Raspberry Pi, help you become acquainted with the operating system and most importantly showcase:
- the huge range of free resources available
- time lapse photography
- infrared imaging
- generating and analysing sounds
- logging temperature changes
- how to get started with some basic Python programming
The Raspberry Pi has the potential to introduce an element of programmed control to investigations which will excite students (and teachers!) and help address the new Computer Science curriculum. 80% hands-on!
Course fee: £95 per person attending
This is for a full day of hands on training and includes all course materials, Raspberry Pi and flash memory card to take back to school.

Speaker information
Simon Fitzjohn,Mathematics and Science Learning Centre,Simon jointly delivers the Physics SKE+ for the Mathematics and Science Learning Centre and teaches post 16 Physics at a local sixth form college. Simon has developed this introductory workshop to Raspberry Pi and another to showcase Python Programming which will be followed by a series of twilight sessions in the autumn and spring terms.
