Event details

Rich learning experiences that encourage play, exploration, investigation and discovery are central to effective teaching and learning in all areas. This practical session will help you identify everyday opportunities for early science. It will support the development of your setting's environment and continuous provision for science teaching and learning. We will consider how science contributes to the Characteristics of Effective Learning as identified in the EYFS framework. The use of observational assessment will also be discussed.

Participants will be able to:

  • Provide rich learning environments and experiences that support the development of early science skills and understanding
  • Identify how science contributes to the Characteristics of Effective Learning
  • Use observation of children's play to contribute to assessment in science.

Teachers will leave with course materials that can then be freely adapted to suit the needs of individual schools.

Cost: £120 including resources and refreshments and lunch on the day
