This Saturday morning workshop is designed to introduce participants to key points when facilitating learning outside the classroom on their own site and other appropriate off-site locations.

This session is packed full of great ideas to get started.  Full use will be made of the gardens during the morning to try out some of the science based activities.  Carla Thomas-Buffin, Head of Education at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens will lead the session. 

Course participants will have free entry to the gardens for the remaining part of the day once the course has ended. 

Following the course participants will be able to: 

  • discover ways to make greater use of the outdoor learning on your own site
  • explore how to manage pupils in an outdoor learning environment
  • find ways to further develop teaching skills using the outdoors as part of the learning environment

This course is suitable for PGCE, School Direct, SCITT, NQT and Early Career Teachers.
