Dyslexia Services information for staff
Dyslexia Services offers support and advice to all students with specific learning difficulties, such as dyslexia or dyspraxia. We also provide information for academic and other University staff.
Dyslexia Services are located at Building 37, Highfield, which is opposite the Jubilee Sports Centre.
Support for students with specific learning difficulties (SpLD) is also provided at Winchester School of Art; St Mary's Hospital, Portsmouth and the Ark Centre, North Hampshire and Basingstoke Hospital. All students with specific learning difficulties, such as dyslexia or dyspraxia, must register with Dyslexia Services so that appropriate support can be arranged.

Our services for students
- Screening assessments and full diagnostic assessments to establish the presence of specific learning difficulties, such as dyslexia
- Updating asssessments (if required)
- Tests for coloured overlays (to help with reading difficulties)
- Advice about the Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA)
- Individual academic study skills tutorials
- Group academic study skills tutorials
- Liaison with other student support services and the Library

- Recommendations for special examination arrangements for students with specific learning difficulties
- Advice to Academic Boards to support individual students with specific learning difficulties
- Advice to clinical and other placement providers on reasonable adjustments
Our publication 'Dyslexia and other Specific Learning Difficulties: A Guide for Tutors 2009-10' provides further information about us and how academic tutors can recognise and support students with specific learning difficulties. The Guide also includes details of examination procedures and reasonable adjustments for students with specific learning difficulties.
