Sandor M Veres

Primary position:
Professor

Sandor supervises and carries out research in the theory and practice of control engineering including adaptive and intelligent control systems, autonomous systems, robust modelling and hardware implementations using microprocessors.

He is the author of three books and about 120 refereed research papers. He is Editor of the International Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing (ACSP) in the topics of identification in adaptive systems. He is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Systems and Control Engineering. He is also Associate Editor of the European Journal of Control.

He is the Chairman of the Technical Committee of the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC) on Adaptive and Learning systems and he is now Congress Technical Editor in this subject area for the 2008 Seoul IFAC World Congress. He has lead the construction of an internationally unique testing facility for autonomous spacecraft at the School that forms the basis of work with the European Space Agency. He is a leading researcher in intelligent physical agents programming for autonomous control of unmanned vehicles in space, under water (AUV) and in air (UAVs). He edited a 9 paper special issue on this topic in ACSP, No 2-3, 2007. His other widely used work is the Geometric Bounding Toolbox (see mathworks.com).
