Students were honoured at the EVA awards for their collaboration, impact, innovation, engagement, commitment and leadership.

Jack Merrifield worked throughout the year to get a Human Powered Submarine Society set up in a sustainable way by working with different areas of the University. He has also established STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) outreach workshops for local schools.

Lydia Butler set up an exciting new collaborative project (HEAT) that addresses student finance, health and environmental impact. She also worked to create a new programme aimed at helping students improve the heat efficiency of their homes through advice and free gifts.

Shruti Verma was awarded ‘The Volunteer’ accolade for her work in academic representation. In her first year she was elected a Course Rep and then took up the role of Faculty Officer in her second and third years. Among Shruti’s other activities, she was a committee member for two societies: Human Powered Submarine and Enactus, where she was also a project leader.

Andrew Clarke led a team of students who went to the University of Portsmouth to provide radio coverage for the sports event Varsity 2015. The 28-strong team covered all the sports across two FM channels.
