A cubesat

The onboard computer and the processing capability of cubesats have been investigated. Cubesats are satellites of mass <1kg  with the volume of a 10cm cube. They are typically inexpensive satellites made up from commercial off the shelf (COTS)  parts.

The research has investigated methods to reduce the total amount of data that has to be stored and transmitted to the ground by investigating the automatic identification of regions of interest and onboard data compression.
