Research project: Signal processing for underwater acoustics

Currently Active:
Yes

The area of signal processing for underwater acoustics continues in close collaboration with members of the Acoustics Group.

The area of signal processing for underwater acoustics continues in close collaboration with members of the Acoustics Group and is predominantly funded by DSTL. The detection and characterisation of signals for passive sonar applications remains the underlying theme and combines with our work in characterising marine mammal vocalisations This has been augmented by the initiation of a programme of work using a bio-inspired processing methodology to extract features from scattered signals, with the goal of realising some of the measured capabilities of mammalian auditory systems.
