We would like to congratulate SCNR member Marilyn Mallia, who passed her PhD viva in January. Dr Mallia's thesis, 'L'Importance du roman gothique anglais dans les premiers romans de George Sand', was completed in Modern Languages under the supervision of Professor Mary Orr. She will be presenting a paper entitled, ‘The French reconfiguration of Radcliffe's gothic heroine: from George Sand's Indiana (1832) to Consuelo (1842)' at the international conference ‘Radcliffe at 250: Gothic and Romantic Imaginations', to be held at the University of Sheffield from the 27-29 June 2014. Congratulations to Dr Mallia, and all best wishes for the future.
