Event details

Creating children's books from first scribble to final step with children's author Kate Lee.

Kate Lee’s rhyming picture books include the best-selling Santa’s Suitcase, published in seven languages, and Snappy Little Numbers which was the first in a successful series selling many thousands of copies. She is now working on a novel, The Stone Feather, for older children and studying for a PhD in Creative Writing, looking at the way that maps are used in children’s literature. She is the holder of The Maureen Taylor Bursary and has an MA in Creative Writing.

Kate will be talking about her work as a writer and sharing her knowledge of the highly visual process of creating books for children from first ideas to successful publication and beyond. There will be time for questions and suggestions and tips for people who would like to develop their own ideas for this most exciting sector of publishing or to pursue further study in English or Creative Writing.

Visit Kate Lee's website for further information about the author and her books.

Refreshments at 5:30pm and the lecture starts at 6pm on Avenue Campus.
