Palaeoenvironmental Laboratory at the University of Southampton

The PLUS research group offers expert services in environmental reconstruction to inform heritage management, including planning for biodiversity conservation, archaeological investigations, wetland and floodplain management, and assessment of water quality in lakes and ponds. Specialist environmental services include pollen, plant macrofossil, and charcoal analysis; chironomid analysis; environmental magnetism; and terrestrial, fluvial, and limnic sedimentology and stratigraphy. UK partners include agencies such as English Heritage and the Countryside Council for Wales, Local Authorities, and Natural England, and we work worldwide with a range of collaborators. The PLUS laboratory is the only laboratory accredited for forensic palynology under the Forensic Science Natural Justice Scheme. All enquiries in this area should be made directly to Prof. A. G.
